Today was the first day back from Christmas break and we were all excited about all of the fun things we might do today.
First, as usual, we all found a morning worksheet waiting for us at our desk. It was about greatest common factors, or GCF. I thought that this was kind of hard because the numbers were a lot bigger. I ended up getting it, though.
Next, after a little while of working on the morning worksheet, we got out our writer's notebook and wrote about our Christmas break. I filled up almost the entire page talking about mine. There were a lot fun of things I got to do over the break.
Afterward, since it was the second quarter, Mrs. Truby taught us how to use checks instead of coupons. We even got to make our own checkbook! Before we knew it, it was time for P.E. P.E is one of my favorite specials.
We started our basketball unit in P.E. We did several dribbling and passing drills. We went straight to music from there. We're doing a Disney show in February that consists of some songs that are in the movie Aladdin, so he let us watch some of it for a special treat.
When we got back to the classroom we finished up learning about checks. We learned how to write checks and balance a register. We finished up right before lunch. I thought that part of the day was very exciting.
When I got down to the lunchroom I went up to the microwave to cook my lunch. I was talking with my friends when I realized that the microwave went blank. It turned out that the power stopped working. I ended up having to go to the one next to it. The problem with that one was that it was really dirty.
At recess I played football with a bunch of other boys. It was pretty cold today. We went from recess to study hall and band. I'm in study hall, so I just went back to the classroom. I cleaned out my desk today. NOT FUN. I did get everything organized though.
After study hall, we graded our DOL together, and after that we did (once again) something new. We had to use real maps to find a thing called Choco. Basically Choco is a a big piece of chocolate that moves whenever we catch up with it. I can't say this was the funnest thing ever, chasing a piece of chocolate around, but it was pretty cool using the different maps.
Finally, it was time to go home."What a great day!' I thought to myself. I couldn't wait to go back to school tomorrow.
